The authors of different chapters in the book series are eminent teachers, scientist and crop specialists of the country and abroad. The first volume of this book series (Volume I) mainly dealt with comprehensive information on basic biology, taxonomy, genetics, breeding and agronomy for 14 important vegetable crops viz., potato tomato, eggplant, chilli and capsicum, cauliflower, onion, carrot, pea, okra, cowpea, pointed gourd, pumpkin and squash, drumstick, and tropical leafy vegetables along with four important general aspects and The present volume (Volume II) adorned by 30 highly reputed contributors: 24 from abroad and 6 from India deals with 14 important general aspects of Vegetable science viz., vegetables for food and nutrition Security, nutrients and health promoting phyto-chemicals in vegetables, vegetables - nutrition for the poor and health for all, high value specialty vegetable produce, quality production of seedlings and grafts, in vitro propagation and conservation of vegetables, seed potato production through tissue culture, biotechnological achievements, molecular markers and transgenic approach in vegetable breeding, modeling of crops: field grown tomato yield forecasting, organic production of vegetables, identification and therapy of virus infections in vegetable crops, Tephritid fruit flies in South and South East Asia and their management, high temperature stress on vegetable crops and breeding for resistance.
